Take a moment to look at this

Now, say each word with a focus on feeling its effect.

These pictures from Dr. Emoto’s study on how words affect water molecules are living proof-picture proof-actual evidence of the power my words have. I know this, you know this, but I think sometimes I don’t remember this. Remember the old saying, “to cast a spell”. Spelling is how we form words on paper.  I looked up the definition of “to cast a spell,” and this is what the Cambridge University dictionary said.

To use words thought to be magic, especially to affect someone.

I found “thought to me magic” intriguing, so I looked up the definition of magic.

Merriam-Webster defines it as

An extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source.

Listen, I’m not talking about witches and darkness here, so don’t get squirmy. What I’m talking about is the reality that Words Spelled out by being spoken do have supernatural power.

“And God said, “Let there be light and there was light.” Genesis 1:3

Jesus said “Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” Mathew 18:19

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21

Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Proverbs 10:19  “Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.”

Proverbs 15:4  “The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.”

Colossians 4:6  “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”

I know that you probably know this, but the power we have to bring life to ourselves, to others, to our community, to our families, and to our friends comes from our mouths.

So, let’s track it back. Where do the words begin? Jesus told us in Matthew that it’s so simple.

“…out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Mathew 12:34

Well, where does the heart come from? Jesus gives us a simple answer to this, too.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Mathew 6:21

What do I treasure?

  1. What I treasure is where my heart is
  2. Where my heart is what proceeds out of my mouth
  3. What proceeds out of my mouth has supernatural power.

The beauty of all of this is that God gave me free will to determine my treasure daily.

Personally, one of my treasures is learning who my God is, and one thing I know about God’s character is that HE IS LOVE.

Guess what else? Since I am His child, I have His character within me through that Spirit within me. All I have to do is tap into that spirit within me to tap into the nature of my Father. If He is my treasure and He is love, then I want to put into that heart of mine what love really is so that from my heart, my mouth can bring forth the supernatural power of love! Love changes everything!

So, I’m going to read I Corinthians 13

13 If with the tongues of men and of messengers I speak, and have not love, I have become brass sounding, or a cymbal tinkling;

and if I have prophecy, and know all the secrets, and all the knowledge, and if I have all the faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing;

I have this prophecy, know some secrets, knowledge, have faith, can move mountains…it’s in me, but without love, who cares?

and if I give away to feed others all my goods, and if I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, I am profited nothing.

I’ve done some of this, well not the give up, my body to be burned, but you know what I mean..all these works for the sake of doing is a waste of my time. These things are only productive if done from a place of LOVE.

The love is long-suffering

Oxford Dictionary defines this as

Having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially those caused by other people. Patience is another word. This is a deliberate choice I make.

it is kind

Having or showing a friendly, generous, and considerate nature.

the love doth not envy

Jealousy over the blessings and achievements of others

the love doth not vaunt itself

To make a vain display of one’s worth or attainments: brag. Transitive verb. To call attention to pridefully and often boastfully

is not puffed up,

doth not act unseemly, doth not seek its own things, is not provoked, thinketh no evil

Another way to word this is “doesn’t judge”. Some of the meanest judges I know are God’s kids. No offense. It’s true. We can spout off judgment faster than a bible verse sometimes. I’m not being mean; I’m being honest. If I am working on this heart of mine by working on my understanding of my treasure, I’ve got to look at this subject, too.  I have been looking at this for a while. I’ve had to eat a little humble pie in this journey because I discovered I judge people more than I thought, and here is where I do it.

Did you know our free will is a gift from God? He will not take it from us or force Himself on us. As I have watched myself, I realize that many times, I get frustrated with or angry at people for using their free will and how they choose to use it (which is NOT how I think they should use it). Free will is God’s gift. What someone decides to do with it is not as I like today “my monkey or my circus”. I am responsible for what I do with mine and only my free will. I choose how I define my will and what is not; you explain what you use your free will for. So, as I intentionally put into my heart what the nature of my Father is, I pull out of my heart a desire to judge others. Instead, I do the other part of love. I’m kind and patient with others as they walk their path. I do the different parts; I rejoice in truth, I see in them, I see the best in them, and I send them love.

rejoiceth not over the unrighteousness, and rejoiceth with the truth;

all things it beareth, all it believeth, all it hopeth, all it endureth.

The love doth never fail;

Love changes everything!

Where there is frustration, anger, shame, guilt, and doubt, there is an absence of love. If I see these things in my own life, love for myself is missing. If I see these towards others, an absence of love is there.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” I John 4:18

Guilt, shame, frustration, and doubt all stem from Fear.

Perfect love” means perfect love, which I have developed in my heart as I have intentionally learned about my true nature, the nature of my Father, that lives inside of me. Mature love is love that I manifest intentionally to myself and to others. It is loving on purpose with purpose. Mature love casts out fear.

So again, I repeat, fear in any form is an absence of love.

If we hold fear, it’s like bending a hose. It stops the flow and binds us physically and mentally.

Shhhh, get quiet, get still, Stop the anxiety…..

“Be anxious for NOTHING”

You may say, “But you don’t understand my situation.” Hey, I didn’t write the book, but nothing means no thing, nada, zip, zilch. We are not supposed to have anxiety about anything, no matter what comes our way, because:

Romans 8:28
And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Phillipians 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

With prayer and thanksgiving, we are to lift our eyes to the one from whom our help comes, and fear not!

To conclude, I want to suggest three mindsets to keep every day:

Gratitude – in everything, even the storm, cause you know He’s walking on the water with you and has something unique in store!

Forgiveness – first to yourself. Be it your five-year-old self, 16-year-old, or present self…forgive yourself. Secondly, others….no matter what age it happened to them!

Live in love – He loved you first –  need to love you too. When you live in love for yourself and your Father, loving others is simple. Judgment melts away; worrying about others melts away. Doubt, worry, and fear melt away because there is NO fear in love. Where there is an absence of love, there is frustration or fear.

“There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love].”
I John 4:18 AMP

I am His child, I have His nature, and He is love. I get to use my free will every day to choose to walk in Love. This is what a renewed mind is. It is internally choosing to use that love of God that is within me and then manifesting it to myself and to others!
